Therapy in Nashville — For People Who Know Something Needs to Change

You don't have to have it figured out to show up. Most people who reach out aren't in crisis — they just know something's been off for a while and they're finally ready to do something about it.

That's enough. Book a FREE 15-minute call and we'll take it from there.

about this practice:

this is for you if:

Your life looks fine from the outside. But something underneath isn't adding up.

  • The anxiety doesn't fully quiet, even when things are going well

  • You find yourself replaying conversations or second-guessing decisions.

  • The same patterns keep showing up — in relationships, at work, in how you feel about yourself.

  • Something has shifted recently, and you're not sure who you are on the other side of it.

You're not in crisis. You're just paying attention to something most people ignore. Therapy here is a space to slow down, look honestly at what's happening, and start moving differently.

how i work:

Direct. Curious. Collaborative.

I work best with people who are willing to be honest — about what's happening, what they want, and what they're afraid to look at.

Some sessions follow your lead. Others I'll bring something into focus you didn't know we were heading toward. Both are intentional.

The through-line is always the same: real conversation, genuine curiosity, and work that actually moves something.

What you learn in the room should show up in your life. That's the goal.

Individual Therapy

HOW INDIVIDUAL THERAPY CAN HELP:

- build emotional control without shutting down

- interrupt repeating patterns in work and relationships

- strengthen confidence, direction, and internal steadiness

Couples Therapy

HOW COUPLES THERAPY CAN HELP:

- understand and shift your conflict dynamic

- improve communication without escalating or withdrawing

- grow in trust, respect, and emotional closeness

Anxiety & Inner stability

You appear steady and capable, but internally feel tense, restless, or reactive. Together, we identify what’s driving your nervous system and build practical tools for emotional control — not suppression. The goal is steadiness under pressure and confidence in how you respond.

Identity & Direction

You’re functioning well, but second-guessing yourself more than you’d like. We clarify what’s misaligned, strengthen internal decision-making, find direction, and reduce the mental back-and-forth that drains your confidence. Therapy becomes a place to rebuild trust in yourself.

Recovery & Compulsive Coping

You’ve stepped away from behaviors that once helped you cope — or you’re realizing it’s time to. We focus on building emotional regulation, accountability, and long-term stability beneath the surface change. The goal is integrity that holds, not just temporary control.

Relationship Patterns & Communication

You may find yourself repeating the same conflict cycle — whether dating or partnered. We slow down the pattern, understand your role in it, and develop clearer, more grounded communication. The work focuses on changing how you show up so relationships feel more stable and intentional. This work can be done as an individual or with couples.

Nashville male therapist Brayden Hanks, AMFT, holding a coffee mug during therapy for men

Hi, I'm Brayden.

I'm a therapist in Nashville and the founder of Hanks Therapy Co.

I started this practice because I kept seeing the same thing: people who were quietly holding a lot, suffering in silence, and needed a space set apart from their everyday life to finally work through it.

That's what I'm trying to build here. A place where something real can happen.
